Departments of
Geospatial Sciences
(DGS)

The inclusion of spatial information in Geospatial Sciences leads to more robust conclusions and a deeper comprehension of the world and its phenomena. It enables decision-makers from diverse fields to make more informed decisions.

The Department of Geospatial Sciences focuses on using information technology to understand the people, places, and processes of the earth which is fundamental to this discipline.  The Department employs geospatial technologies such as : Remote Sensing (RS), (Earth Observation (EO), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Surveying, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Machine Learning, Photogrammetry, and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) as measurement, observation, and analysis tools, in solving environmental and real-world issues such as environmental pollution, climate change, land-use change, forest management and measurement, urban sprawl, food security, natural resource management, geo-health, etc.

The vision of the Department of Geospatial Sciences is to be a global leader in geospatial research, education, and innovation, with a focus on advancing our understanding of the Earth’s surface and the built environment using cutting-edge technologies and data-driven approaches.

Upon graduation, our trained Geospatial Scientist have the hands – on practical skills and theoretical knowledge to collect and analyze data, create models, and solve problems in a variety of fields. With the rapidly evolving geospatial field our Geospatial Scientist are well equipped to meet the growing demand for geospatial expertise in both the public and private sectors.
